According to the legend, the marsh iris grew in abundance around the ramparts of Brussels. The pretty
yellow flower only blooms in shallow water, and is said to have enabled the Duke of Brabant to know
where to ride in battle, and to win victory over his opponents who were drowning in the marshes. This is
a glorious story for the Brussels region, which adopted it as its emblem in 1991. The iris is a wild variety
of the lily, and is also said to have appeared on the coats of arms of the kings of France.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A timely encounter<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The name “Manalys” comes from the name of its creator, Mo\u00efse Mann, and the famous “Lys” symbolizing
Brussels. The company enjoys designing pieces that pay tribute to Brussels’ heritage, craftsmanship and
history. At Manalys, creation always begins with the discovery of one or more stones. And what stone
could better symbolize the lily than a fabulous yellow sapphire? Its bold, luminous color could only inspire
an exceptional piece, perfectly in tune with the history of the Maison. Andr\u00e9 Gide once said that “Art is
the result of a constraint”. Here, it was the encounter between Manalys and stone that enabled the
craftsmen to express the quintessence of their art.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A joy as well as a tribute<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

It all began with the discovery of an unheated 60.14-carat Vivid Yellow sapphire from Sri Lanka. By
definition, all stones are unique, but this one is particularly so. The link with the marsh iris is almost
obvious. In the secrecy of Manalys’ Brussels workshop, a sumptuous piece comes to life under the pencil
strokes of the house’s designer. The magnificent necklace would take five months to complete, and
would also put to the test the skills of two jewelry craftsmen, a gem-setter and a polisher. Today, the
“Made in Brussels” piece is ready to be unveiled to the world.<\/p>\n\n\n

To create this High Jewellery piece, the craftsmen assembled 22 carats of white diamonds, 9 carats of
yellow sapphires and a sumptuous 60.14-carat central yellow sapphire on a base of yellow and white gold.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Earrings in harmony with Brussels<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

This exceptional piece has also been declined in a pair of earrings. Inspired by its tall stems, the
adornment reminds the 17th century earrings with floral motifs reworked in a modern style. Either a
drawing that honors the symbol of Brussels in its blue, white and yellow dress. The flower is topped by a
tsavorite bud, its petals falls in a paving of diamonds and sapphires, ending in a cascade of sapphires and tsavorites.<\/p>\n\n\n
