Savoir-faire

A century-old savoir-faire, timeless elegance.
Each piece of jewellery we create embodies the stringent standards and excellence of our craftsmanship. Step by step, we ensure that our jewels proudly represent the colours and values of 100% Belgian jewellery, coming to life right in the heart of the capital, in our boutique workshops.

Exceptional stones

Diamonds, rubies, emeralds, sapphires, aquamarines, tourmalines, tsavorites, spinels… All our stones — precious, fine, pearls — have been carefully selected and patiently gathered over the course of time and travels, by Moïse Mann himself and his collaborators.

This mastery endows our jewellers, passionate about precious stones, with a deep knowledge of their origins, characteristics, and history. A tale that they are ever ready to unveil to you.

Carefully selected stones

As excellence dictates, only natural, unheated stones, preserved from human manipulation, meet our House’s standards. Before acquisition, each stone is selected by our experts and scrutinised by a globally recognised laboratory, which confirms its origin, characteristics, and authenticity.

The stone that we deem worthy of joining our House — and your hands — then comes with its certificate of authenticity and is ready to embellish your future jewellery and bespoke creations.

Bespoke creations

Do you have a jewellery idea that is just waiting to blossom? A passion for a stone that is yet to be enhanced?

Entrust us with your desires and witness the birth of a unique, exquisite piece under the skilled hands of our seasoned craftsmen — a piece that will forever mark the moment of life it celebrates.

Evaluating your request

First and foremost, tell us about your project and its story.
A ring, pendant, bracelet, or earrings to celebrate a special day, express your love, your gratitude, or continue a family tradition…

Our advisors, along with our experts, designer, craftsmen, and setter, will work with you to define the outlines of the project that will be uniquely yours, in all its facets.

Creating the design

Next, take a first look at your ideas, sketched out.
See how your custom jewellery comes to life under the skilled brush of our in-house designer, Sawako Narita.

Sawako listens carefully to your desires to translate them into a drawing that honours them, thus beginning the creation of a unique piece that meets your expectations.

Tailor-Making your jewel

Finally, let the magic of our master jewellers work.
From our workshop, within the heart of the jewellery store, our artisans create the alloy that will define the colour of your chosen gold and shape it to match the original design.

Alongside them, our setter meticulously places the precious or fine stones selected for your bespoke jewellery, which gradually takes form under their experienced hands.

Our creations

The Holemans Manalys workshop

At the back of our jewellery stores, visible from the boutique, our workshops bring together our master artisans, vibrant in harmony with their creativity…

It is within these true beating hearts of the House, at the jewellers’ and setter’s benches, that a continuous dialogue is engaged between the design, the material, the stones, and the artisan.

Handmade creation

In our workshops, the master jewellers undertake a delicate and meticulous craftsmanship: they melt the gold, give shape to the jewellery, and set the stones by hand to create a unique piece. Their exceptional savoir-faire, born from a centuries-old jewellery tradition, endows each creation with enduring quality – allowing it to transcend time and be cherished for generations to come.

Maintenance and repair

Your jewellery is born and lives by your side. Preserving its longevity requires special attention. Our workshop is at your disposal for any adjustment, cleaning, or repair that will allow your jewellery to maintain the brilliance of its first days.

Transformation

Our craftsmen transform and recycle your rings, bracelets, pendants, earrings, or brooches to give them a second life. A whole new form for eternal jewellery, reborn from its ashes, generation after generation.

Expert appraisals

The sentimental value of your jewellery is immeasurable. But its market value, our specialists can expertly and discreetly assess, through a comprehensive appraisal. Entrust your jewellery, stones, and metals to their experienced eyes to know their value and receive an expert and reliable estimate.

Buyback

And because jewellery also deserves a second life, we create all our pieces from recycled gold, bought back from our clients. We acquire certain signed pieces as well, notably those from our House, thereby perpetuating your story in new hands.

“Even today, we continue to uphold the values of ancestral craftsmanship, focusing on the transmission of savoir-faire and traditional techniques to the newer generations. The Belgian roots of Maison Holemans have also stood the test of time.”

– Moïse Mann

FAQ

  • What materials do you use in your creations?

We use our own 18-carat gold alloy (white, rose, and yellow), platinum, precious stones, and semi-precious stones, as well as cultured pearls (i.e., not harvested from wild oysters).

  • How should I choose between white gold and platinum?

Platinum (950 hallmark) is naturally greyish-white, composed of 95% hard platinum and 5% copper. It develops a good patina and is more resistant to wear due to its higher density.

As for white gold, we use palladium white gold. This means that our gold alloy is composed of 75% fine 24KT gold, 13% pure palladium, and 12% copper and silver. Palladium is a platinoid that imparts a slightly whiter color than platinum. Therefore, it is our alloy that gives white gold a lasting whiteness.

In terms of cost, white gold has become more expensive than platinum, but the complex craftsmanship required for platinum justifies a similar price, if not higher.

  • How do you make your pieces of jewellery?

Our jewellery is crafted through a rigorous handmade process. Each piece undergoes several stages: gouache design creation, selection of precious metals and gemstones, handcrafting, setting, polishing, rhodium plating, and finally, quality control.

  • Are your gemstones certified?

Yes, all our gemstones are certified. They are selected for their authenticity, quality, and ethical origin. The original certificate—issued by a globally recognized laboratory such as GIA, HRD, Gübelin, SSEF, GRS—will be provided to you upon receiving your piece of jewellery. Upon request, we can also provide a value certificate (for insurance purposes, for example).

  • Why choose an untreated sapphire or ruby?

An untreated sapphire or ruby retains its natural value and rarity, as it has not undergone human interventions to enhance (saturate) its colour. Be aware that over 95% of sapphires (and rubies) are heated, so this is an important consideration when comparing different stones.

  • Can I bring my own gold to create a new piece of jewellery?

Yes, we can recreate jewellery using your gold (often referred to as “old gold”). This holds symbolic, ethical, and ecological significance. We test the gold to ensure it can be reused as is. If not, we can always deduct its value from the price of your new project.

  • What types of value appraisals do you offer?

If you’re curious about the value of your jewellery, we offer appraisal services by appointment. Ideal for estimating antique or contemporary jewellery for sale, transformation, inheritance, division, insurance, or simply out of curiosity. This service is free for oral appraisals and paid for detailed written certificates. Depending on your request, our expert will assess either the replacement value or the market value of your jewellery.

  • What sets your craftsmanship apart from other jewellery houses?

Our Maison stands out for its highly precise craftsmanship, respecting traditional techniques coupled with a constant desire for innovation. All the skills needed to create and repair your jewellery are in-house, ensuring reasonable production times and greater security for your jewellery, which remains in our workshop throughout the process.

  • What warranty do you offer on your creations?

We offer a 10-year warranty on all our creations. As part of this warranty, we encourage you to visit us annually for a check-up on your piece. This is also an opportunity to clean your jewellery and restore its full shine. This annual check-up is included in our after-sales service.
