Holemans and Manalys create unique jewellery. One since 1922, the other since 2009, with the same desire for quality and a similar passion for traditional craftsmanship. Because they have so much to share, the century-old house of Holemans and the Manalys jewellers will be merging this autumn. Better than a merger, it's a natural coming together of these two facets of Belgian creativity. The aim is to showcase and highlight their historical links under a single banner.
Adding without subtracting: a fusion that makes sense
The word ‘fusion’ is disturbing when it means ‘reduction’: this is neither the intention nor the philosophy of Moïse Mann, the founder of Maison Manalys. As when he took over the destiny of Maison Holemans in 2013, where he was a craftsman for more than 20 years, his aim is to perpetuate their heritage and make the most of what brought them together in the past. In other words, the in-house workshops that produce both Holemans and Manalys creations, the freedom to design unique pieces, and the sourcing of stones that Moïse Mann does himself as close as possible to the mines.
That's why nothing has been changed or done away with: the two boutiques will remain on boulevard de Waterloo and place du Grand Sablon, the craftsmen and designer will continue to work on site, and the collections will continue to offer such iconic creations as the timeless Antilope engagement ring and the much-loved Promesse.
A symbolic piece
The linear rigour of Art Deco intrinsic to the history of Holemans, the audacity and exuberance at the heart of the Manalys DNA: the Comète double-finger ring is the perfect embodiment of the spirit of the merger between the two Houses. A dazzling display of white gold and white diamonds (3.45 carats) set against an oval vivid red ruby (2.28 carats), unheated and surrounded by a closed setting of yellow gold.
